August 6-12: The SRF 2017 World Convocation will be held at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles, CA. The convocation is a week of immersion in the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda, presented by monks and nuns of the SRF order, and attended by thousands of people from around the world. The program includes technique review classes, satsangas, kirtans, and inspiring lectures on how to apply spiritual principles to our daily lives. Those attending may also sign up for pilgrimages to Encinitas, Mother Center, Lake Shrine, Hollywood Temple, and our Guru's crypt at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. August 13: There will be a kirtan led by our Center members on Sunday, August 13 from 12:30-1:30 pm. Come and experience the joy of chanting together in devotion to God.        

August 14: You are warmly invited to our Janmashtami service, to commemorate the birth of Bhagavan Krishna, on Monday, August 14 from 6:30-8:30 pm. Please bring a flower as a symbol of devotion to God and Guru, and a donation may be offered as a sign of loyalty to SRF. Special services are open to SRF students, members, and anyone drawn to the Self-Realization line of Gurus.        

August 20: All are welcome to our Post-Convocation potluck social on Sunday, August 20 after the service. Bring your favorite vegetarian dish, salad, or dessert, and your Convocation experiences to share.      

August 25: Please join us for a special guided meditation on Friday, August 25 from 6:30-9:30 pm. During this meditation, the congregation will be led by the service reader through the practice of various meditation techniques. Select devotional readings and chants will also be chosen for this service to allow participants to go deeper into meditation. If you are looking for a bit more focus in your group meditations, this may be just the thing. All are welcome to attend.

 

Center Tour 2017 

Monastics will be joining us for Center Tour the weekend of October 20-22.  The Thursday night service will be monastic-led.  On Friday, monastics will lead a guided meditation and give a public lecture entitled, “Meditation: the Science of Peace and Joy,” followed by a reception on the third floor.  Technique review and Kriya Initiation Ceremony will be held on Saturday, and after the kriya review and monastic-led service on Sunday there will be a social and closing program with inspirational video. We are looking forward to seeing all of you on this joyful weekend!

February 20: Our Movie Night will be held on Saturday, February 20 from 5:00-8:00pm, featuring the documentary, "Jesus in India." The story chronicles the quest undertaken by Edward Martin, a former fundamentalist from Texas, who searches for evidence and answers to the "lost years" of Jesus, which is beautifully filmed across 4,000 miles in India. Doors open at 4:30 for private meditation, and pizza will be served on the third floor at 5:00. We look forward to seeing you there!

February 21: You are warmly invited to a Valentine's Social on Sunday, February 21, which will be held on the third floor after the service. A light lunch will be served.

March 6: Our next Friendship Tea will be held on Sunday, March 6 on the third floor after the service.  Tea and light refreshments will be served. All are welcome to attend.

March 9: On Wednesday, March 9, from 6:30-8:30pm, a special service will be held to commemorate the Mahasamadhi of Swami Sri Yukteswar.  Please bring a flower and a donation. These special services are open to SRF students, members, and anyone drawn to the SRF line of Gurus.

March 17: The Thursday Inspirational Service will be led by visiting monastics.

March 18: The Friday 3-Hr. Meditation will be monastic-led.

March 20: The Sunday Meditation and Inspirational service will be led by visiting monastics.

March 20: Our Annual General Meeting will be held in the main chapel after the service. The meeting is open to those who have been attending NYCC services regularly for the past year.

Garrison Retreat

May 20-22: SRF's monastic-led Regional Weekend Retreat for 2016 is scheduled from May 20-22 at a beautiful Capuchin monastery in Garrison, NY. Registration is open and is on a first come first served basis. Online registration is preferred. September 11-13: We are pleased to announce that nuns from Self-Realization Fellowship Mother Center will be conducting a weekend retreat for men and women at Shaftsbury Hollow in Vermont, Sept 11-13. The suggested donation for the retreat weekend is $140 and covers the program expenses, meals, and a small contribution to SRF. Lodging, which is off site, is not included. September 13: The next Young at Heart Activity will be held on Sunday, September 13 from 12:30-2:00 pm.  All young-at-heart adults, ages 65 and over are invited to attend.  The activity will include a brief meditation, light refreshments, and a short SRF video or monastic recording.

September 19: Self-Realization Fellowship is happy to announce it will be conducting its first Children and Teen Day on the East Coast, for girls ages 7-12 and 13-17, on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the Bethlehem Meditation Circle in Northampton, PA. Both girls and their parents are invited to attend. Girls will be led through the practice of monastic-led Energization Exercises, meditation, satsanga; as well as an interactive class and activities to explore Paramahansa Yogananda’s teachings. There will also be separate activities for parents, including a monastic-led meditation and satsanga. Please see the flyer and registration form located in the first floor lobby for additional information. Information regarding a Children and Teen Day for boys will be announced in the near future.

September 20: Brahmacharini Angelina and Brahmacharini Deborah will be leading the Meditation and Inspirational services on Sunday, September 20. Afterward, please join us for a Friendship Tea on the third floor.

September 18-20: Members of the NYCC will be participating in the Hamptons YogaFest in Bridgehampton, NY over the weekend of Sept. 18:20, offering SRF books and materials for sale to the many truth:seeking souls attending the event who might be interested in learning more about the teachings of our Guru, Paramahansa Yogananda.  If you are interested in helping, please contact Bill & Susan Siegel.

October 23: The Thursday evening Inspirational Service will be monastic-led, and will include a short video of the Lake Shrine dedication.

October 24: Brother Naradananda will present a free public lecture entitled Creating Spiritual Balance in Today's World, from 7:00-8:00pm. Afterwards, join us for a reception on the third floor.

October 25: An SRF Technique Review class will be held from 9:00-11:30 am. This class is open to all lesson students and those who are interested in signing up for theSRF lessons. Please bring your lessons student card for admittance. The Kriya Initiation Ceremony will be held from 4:00-7:00pm. Please bring your Kriyaban or admittance card.

October 26: A Kriya Technique Review class will be held from 9:00-10:30am on the second floor. Please bring your Kriyaban or admittance card. The Sunday Meditation and Inspirational Service will be monastic-led. Afterwards, a potluck social will be held on the third floor. At 2:00, join us in the main chapel for the Closing DVD Program, which will feature God's Love for His Devotees by Brother Anandamoy.
